Taking on the role of the management team of a struggling passenger airline, you’ll experience how Hoshin, done well, forces tough decisions, helps translate ambition into action and keeps the focus of the organisation on what needs to be done to realise the strategic objectives.

⬤ Facilitator Courses
Designed for internal coaches who will lead operating units through the refinement and implementation of their strategy, or the implementation of a lean management system, these five-day intensive training courses provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully apply Breakthrough Partners’ proven Hoshin, OKR and Lean implementation methodologies. Each participant can also, on successful completion of the post-course assessment/review of evidence of the successful application of the methodology receive the relevant Breakthrough Business System Facilitator Certification.
► Certified Hoshin Kanri Facilitator
This course is designed to arm internal coaches with the skills and knowledge they need to be able to guide the management team of an operating unit through the three stages (strategy refinement, strategy deployment and strategy execution) of the Hoshin Kanri strategy implementation methodology. Participants will learn how to facilitate each of the workshops that support the refinement and deployment of the strategy and how to set-up and support the management review process that drives execution, and where necessary, course correction of the resulting plan.
► Certified OKR Facilitator
This course is designed for internal coaches who will guide operating units through the definition, deployment and execution of strategy using Objectives and Key Results. Participants will learn the how to facilitate the definition and refinement of strategy using the Strategy on a Page (SoaP) approach and how to guide teams at different levels in the organisation to craft clear objectives and measurable results, to maintain alignment with organisational goals, and apply agile principles to project delivery during each quarterly OKR cycle.
► Certified Value Driven Improvement Facilitator
This course is designed for internal coaches charged with guide operating units through the implementation of the Value Driven Improvement methodology. Participants will learn the how to guide a leadership team through the definition of a Value Driver Tree for their unit - including the identification of leading drivers through high level mapping of the units key value streams. Participants will also learn how to clarify accountability and targets for the most critical drivers and how to systematically introduce a management review cycle that drives each accountable owner to apply PDCA thinking via Measure-Analyse-Action-Review (MAAR) charts to the continual improvement of the Indicators for which they are accountable.
► Certified Daily Management Facilitator
This course is designed for internal coaches tasked with guiding operating units through the implementation of a Daily Management System. Participants will learn how to help the leadership team identify and confirm the boundaries of the operating cells/production areas (including if necessary the clarification of value streams), and how to systematically guide cell/area leaders through the two foundational kaizens that first organise, standardise, stabilise the cell operations before then introducing the other elements of the Daily Management System that enable and sustain it (visual management, tiered huddles, Leader Standard Work, improvement kata coaching, Gemba walks and escalation/systematic management of chronic problems).
► Certified Value Stream Management Facilitator
This course is designed for internal coaches tasked with leading operational and supporting teams through the creation and optimisation of flow based production in production units. Participants will learn how to guide teams through the capture of the current state of the value stream, the application of design principles to create a future state design that will enable flow (even in scenarios with shared resources and mixed model production) and then the implementation of that design in practice. Participants will also learn how to apply complementary best practices that include the Toyota practice of Autonomation (automation with human intelligence or Jidoka) as well as mistake-proofing (Poke Yoke) and demand-levelling (Heijunka Scheduling).

Suitable for all employees, these highly experiential and engaging one day training courses are designed to bring lean and strategy execution concepts to life and the create the confidence to apply them in the workplace.
► Agile Project Management and Execution
This course is designed to provide individuals leading improvement projects the skills to apply Agile concepts and practices to enable more effective value-driven delivery of improvement outcomes. Participants will learn how core agile concepts such as servant
leadership, adaptive planning, frequent feedback for learning, and a focus on value-driven versus plan driven delivery can be applied to increase the probability of successfully deliver the value targeted from the improvement action.
Where this course is delivered in-house, there is the option for those participants who successfully meet the certification criteria to receive an IC Agile issued certification in Agile Project and Delivery Management (ICP-APM).
► Advanced Problem Solving with DMAIC
This course is designed to provide individuals leading improvement projects the skills to successfully apply the DMAIC problem solving process to real world problems. Based on a series of highly experiential exercises that enable participants to practically apply and reinforce the learning, this course can be tailored to include more, or less, or the core statistical tools that underpin the DMAIC methodology. In addition to gaining a deep understanding of the DMAIC methodology, this course will also introduce agile delivery concepts as well as useful change management/facilitation practices.
Where this course is delivered in-house, and where the agreed scope includes the mandatory topics, there is an options for those participants that pass a course assessment and successfully complete of the first DMAIC project participants to be certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or Yellow Belt) by the British Quality Foundation.
► From Change Management to Change-ability
This course is design to equip individuals leading improvement and strategy implementation projects - which inherently change how the organisation operates - with the skills to both manage change effectively and critically increase adaptability - at both an individual as well as a group/organisational level. Leveraging the powerful AQ (Adaptability Quotient) model developed by the this course focuses on how to become a ambassador of entrepreneurial thinking and how each of us can help teams/organisations overcome the barriers to increased adapability.
Where this course is delivered in-house, there is the option to include the powerful on-line AQ assessment (either individual or team version depending on fit) as an input to the training.
► Coaching Leadership Kata
This course is designed for those charged with coaching leaders to effectively teach the improvement kata i.e. how teams can apply the essence of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) thinking to systematically make experiments that close the gap to the target state. This course provides internal coaches with the skills to prepare leaders to both systematically teach the improvement kata and apply the coaching kata in their daily interactions with the teams they are leading.
This course also provides participants guidance on how to help leaders to develop, and systematically follow, their own Leader Standard Work.
► Building an Effective Lean Business System Office
This course is designed for those who are leading the development of the organisation’s Lean Business System. It provides participants, through a combination of small group training and 1:1 coaching, a comprehensive understanding of the lessons Breakthrough Partners have learnt about what should be (and should not be) the key roles of the Lean Business System Office, what should be centralised and what distributed and the logical steps that an organisation can take to build an widely respected and effective Lean Business System Office in a larger multi-business enterprise.
